During our working lives we have enjoyed the high standards of pay and working conditions that being Australian guarantees.

Today, working families are doing it tough – with higher fuel costs and further changes to industrial relations legislation things will only get worse.

We draw attention to the Gosford and Wyong Council Waste Workers who have been told the tender for their work will be reissued. The new tender will be based on WorkChoices conditions and means a potential wage cut of up to $340 per week.

We call on the Federal Government to protect Australian families:

• Decrease the cost of fuel and lighten the burden on families.
• Protect Australian jobs and reject further workplace reforms.
• Commit to protect safety at work and maintain occupational health and safety standards.

We do not want to be the first generation to leave our children and grandchildren worse conditions at work than those we enjoyed. We call on the Prime Minister to protect Australian families.
