TWU Veterans Take Action for the Future

In 2005 20 TWU veterans came out of retirement to help the union again.
Tony Sheldon met with them and talked about the changes to the industrial relation under the Federal Government and the effect it is going to have in the work place and the importance of union membership.
The veterans told Tony that they are here to help in any way they can. During the meeting the veterans heard from current delegates regarding the problems they face in yards today, from one of the officials how delegates development and training is becoming very important under the work place changes.
Vets Meet Kevin Rudd
TWU retired members wasted no time in meeting with new ALP leader Kevin Rudd.
They spoke to him in Lindsay, NSW about their concerns over pensions and the IR changes.
Mr Rudd spoke of the ALP commitment to protect retired members and their pensions. (See the photos)
Pensioner's Forum For NSW Venues
The TWU encourages NSW members and those recently retired, to attend pensioner's forums being held in Penrith and on the NSW Central Coast. The Forums look at Industrial Relations changes and how they affect your pension. (Find out more)
The Vets Club met on December 11th 2006 and discussed a proposal about going to Penrith (in the Lindsay electorate) and the Central Coast (in the Dobell electorate) in 2007 to meet with the local Liberal MPs regarding the Fair Pay Commission and how it is going to effect pension increases.
