Late January saw a terrible incident on our roads made worse by the inability of bus company, Hillsbus, to follow correct safety procedures. A TWU member while driving a late afternoon shift was subject to a rock attack which shattered the front window. The stupidity of this assault was not met with the appropriate response by the company. <br />

Talk to the thousands of owner-drivers operating in NSW and they will
tell you the important role that Chapter Six and the IRC have in
ensuring that their rights at work are protected.. But what would happen
if the IRC was abolished and what impact would this have on the ability
of owner-drivers to access Chapter Six? Last Friday, Wayne Forno, Oshie
Fagir, and owner-driver Ray Childs, gave evidence at a parliamentary
inquiry and urged the State Government to retain the tribunal and the
powers it has in NSW.
