TWU Convoy to Canberra

Over 600 owner drivers and their trucks descended on Parliament House in Canberra on 16 August 2005 to protest against the Government's plan to stop them from negotiating collectively.  TWU owner drivers fear that the changes will see the end of their businesses and create more danger on the road.  Drivers rallied outside Parliament and did a lap of Parliament to demonstrate their fear of the Government proposed changes.  A delegation of drivers met with over thirty Members of Parliament, including Kevin Andrews, made their presence felt in Question Time and spoke to a forum of dozens of MP's and Senators. It is now up to the Government to withdraw its proposed legislation.
