The recent transfer of business from Qantas Catering Riverside to Gate Gourmet has put a lot of our members on edge, unsure about what effect this transfer will have on their working rights. Thankfully the hard work of their delegates and union negotiators has secured a significant enterprise agreement that guarantees their rights at work.
This agreement secures not only the previous rights held under the Qantas agreement it also grants employees access to staff travel benefits.
These arrangements are modelled on the previous Qantas agreement and makes Gate Gourmet workers the only non-airline employees in Australia to have staff travel entitlements.
“This is a fantastic victory for our catering delegates and we thank them for their hard work in maintaining and improving the wages and conditions of all transport workers,” said State Secretary Wayne Forno.
