Health and Safety Representative

The Transport Workers' Union of NSW is an approved Health and Safety Representative (HSR) training provider under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011. We provide HSRs with an initial five-day HSR training course and one-day refresher courses thereafter. Both of these training courses fulfil the training requirements an HSR needs under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011.

Over one hundred owner-drivers have been spared the sack from their principal contractor Hanson, following pressure by the Transport Workers Union (TWU) in a hearing before the NSW Industrial Relations Commission (NSW IRC) on Wednesday morning.

Up to 130 owner-drivers at concrete company Hanson had their contracts terminated at 2pm on Friday 7 June 2013, with the company deciding to replace its entire owner-driver workforce with employee drivers.
