Transport Workers’ Union Senior Official Mark Crosdale said “after many years of hard work and commitment from the employees and families of Bon McArthur Transport they have been left with no job and no support.”

“We request that Joe Hockey allow the General Employees Entitlements and Redundancy Scheme (GEERS) be available to these families to ensure that their full entitlements are paid.

“As these families have been left without income or support we request an initial emergency payment be made to cover all outstanding wages within one week. Remaining entitlements should be paid within two weeks.

“The Geer scheme should apply to all employees of Bon McArthur Transport Pty Ltd AND Mireau Pty Ltd across the country.

“The working families of Australia deserve no less from your Government,” said Mark Crosdale.

Senior Official Mark Crosdale is available for comment.
