Welcome to my Transport Workers Union

QANTAS STILL CALLS AUSTRALIA HOME

The Transport Workers’ Union is proud that a long and hard campaign against the foreign takeover of Qantas has been won by 37,000 Qantas families.

The Transport Workers’ Union is proud that a long and hard campaign against the foreign takeover of Qantas has been won by 37,000 Qantas families.

TWU Senior Airlines Official Scott Connolly said that this was a win for all Qantas families who have spent the past 6 months in limbo.

“Union members have repeatedly asked the Texas Cowboys leading the takeover bid to commit to protections for rates of pay, entitlements, job security and strong safety standards.

“The Federal Government has once again failed to stand up for working families – leaving it to a strong union campaign to protect 37, 000 Qantas families.

“This is a win for families, and a win for all Australians – Qantas families should be proud of their 6 month campaign to keep a national icon down under.

“Qantas families built this Australian icon from the ground up and this failed bid proves how essential those families are.

“The Qantas board has a real opportunity to prove that Qantas families mean something to this Australian icon and are the real reason they’re flying high.

“It’s time now for APA to pack their bags and head back to Texas – it’s clear that if they couldn’t run a successful bid for Qantas they certainly couldn’t manage it.

“Qantas families need to be put first by the board now – there are 37,000 employees who have been left up in the air for months and they deserve a certain future” said Mr Connolly.

The Transport Workers’ Union is the largest Qantas union, representing 15,000 Qantas families.
