Therese has certainly been busy! When negotiating with DHL about inserting clauses to the draft agreement, she received the following response from the company:

‘The only way to deal with these issues would be to reopen negotiations which will cause a delay in the voting process and is undesirable at this late stage.’

Not only had DHL not mentioned that it believed the negotiation process to be over — it also called a vote for today.

The TWU always believes that any agreement to be put to the employees must be the best one obtainable, so this sudden break in negotiations was not to be tolerated.

Therese drafted a flyer for the Communications Unit to put together, and this morning Organiser Dennis Pehar was out at DHL handing the leaflet to employees. Once DHL learnt that the agreement would be rejected overwhelmingly, it postponed the vote and agreed to re-enter negotiations.
