Thousands brave rain for Compo rally

Heavy rain on Wednesday 13 June failed to dampen the spirits of a more than 5,000-strong crowd that rallied at State Parliament against the NSW State Government’s planned cuts to workers compensation.

The TWU had a solid contingent of delegates and members from across Sydney and also had strong representation at similar rallies in Newcastle and Wollongong.

“The O’Farrell Government has badly misjudged the cuts to WorkCover and should now stop using injured workers as a soft target,” said NSW State Secretary, Wayne Forno.

“Let’s be clear – if these laws pass and you are injured, the changes will affect you and your loved ones. This is not something we can afford to be complacent about.”

“The TWU will campaign against the changes and do everything in our power to ensure the State’s most vulnerable workers are not abandoned by the NSW Government.”

The State Government is planning to introduce the changes to compensation this week.
