Health and Safety Representative

The Transport Workers' Union of NSW is an approved Health and Safety Representative (HSR) training provider under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011. We provide HSRs with an initial five-day HSR training course and one-day refresher courses thereafter. Both of these training courses fulfil the training requirements an HSR needs under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011.

A Better Deal For All Truckies: Safe Rates Becomes Law

For more than 20 years the Transport Workers’ Union has campaigned side by side with truckies, their families, businesses and road users across Australia to address the safety crisis that makes truck driving our most dangerous industry. The economic imbalance, where major retailers like Coles control 32% of the entire road transport task in Australia, has for too long been ruthlessly exploited. Truckies are frequently forced to drive too far, too fast and for too long, simply to put food on the table. The results of this pressure is a litany of tragedy on our roads - an average of 330 people killed and more than 5300 injured each year as a result of truck crashes.

Safe Rates: Victory is ours

After 10 years of campaigning on the issue, including a convoy to Canberra and a protest on James Ruse Drive, it all came down to a vote on Tuesday 20 March. Our Federal Members of Parliament voted in favour of legislation that will protect the safety and conditions of truck drivers across Australia.
