Health and Safety Representative

The Transport Workers' Union of NSW is an approved Health and Safety Representative (HSR) training provider under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011. We provide HSRs with an initial five-day HSR training course and one-day refresher courses thereafter. Both of these training courses fulfil the training requirements an HSR needs under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011.

Members fight back against Coles price war

As Coles’ parent company Wesfarmer Annual General Meeting (AGM) was in process, the NSW Branch was among hundreds of members across Australia who took to Coles supermarkets to protest against the company’s continued treatment of its truck drivers.

Big retailers are pushing down the safety of truck drivers

The Transport Workers’ Union has taken their fight to improve safety standards for our truckies to the top, protesting outside Coles stores around Sydney. This is part of the TWU’s campaign to put the spotlight on the pressures big retailers are placing on the trucking industry and across the entire supply chain. “In the last two weeks the Transport Workers’ Union has handed out flyers, chanted and even danced. Though it might seem like we are just taking the mickey out of Coles, we are doing it to highlight a serious need for better safety standards for our truck drivers,” said TWU State Secretary Wayne Forno.
